El Granada resident Stefko clinches Legends Cup victory

El Granada resident Frank Stefko defeated Bryan Ungaretti in the final round of match play to win the 2018 Half Moon Bay Golf Links Legends Cup on Tuesday. Stefko was 3 holes up with 2 to play, clinching the victory on hole number 16 of the Old Course. After playing 10 rounds to qualify, the top players competed in 4 rounds of match play to determine the top two players. Under cloudy skies Tuesday morning, Stefko and Ungaretti traded holes until Stefko was able to pull away for the victory. The top prize in the public golf event was an all-expenses paid, 4 day golf trip to Pinehurst Golf Club in North Carolina. Second prize received a full set of custom fitted golf clubs. This was the second Legends Cup played, with the first being played in 2016. Plans are underway for the 2019 event.
