We are pleased to announce a partnership between Half Moon Bay Golf Links and Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina for an incredible golf opportunity exclusively for our Legends Club Members. A group of 22 members plus two PGA Professionals will visit Pinehurst for a four-night/five-day trip between October 28th and November 1st, 2018.
The delegation will enjoy a three-day Legends Club competition at Pinehurst’s finest courses, a 9-hole competitive event between our members and those from Pinehurst Resort on their brand new “Cradle” short course, and a final, casual round before we leave.
Golf Format
The three-day competition will be a Ryder Cup style competition featuring two teams consisting of 11 Legends Club Members plus one PGA Professional on each team.
The first two days will be a four-ball format in which each member of a two-man team plays his own ball. Four balls are in play on every hole. Each team counts the lowest of its two scores on each hole, and the team whose player has the lowest score wins the hole. If the low scores are tied, the hole is halved. The third round will feature singles matches on the famed Pinehurst No. 2 (host of the 2014, 2005, and 1999 US Open). In singles, each match features one player from each team and the player with the lower score on each hole wins that hole. Each match is worth one point, with matches ending in a draw worth ½ a point to each side. The first team to reach 12 and a half points will take possession of the 2018 Pinehurst Cup!
Atlantic-Pacific Cup
Following the Legends Club Competition, players will compete for the inaugural “Atlantic-Pacific Cup” — a 9-hole inter-club competition on the “Cradle.” After the round, Legends Club Members will have a chance to meet and greet Pinehurst members and then partake in the formal announcement of the 2019 “Atlantic-Pacific Cup” to be held at Pinehurst. We hope to bring the competition to Half Moon Bay in 2020. Help us bring this inaugural event trophy home!

In addition to this incredible golfing opportunity, players will enjoy first-rate accommodations at the famous Carolina Hotel, dinner each evening at some of Pinehurst’s best restaurants, and ground transportation to and from Raleigh International Airport.
